Do they drop it off at the door step, mailbox, or the post office.

Think it depends on the carrier. We have an awesome mail lady, and she goes out of her way to give me our packages lol. She didn't like leaving them by the front door or in the mail box-afraid someone would steal them, so she'd leave them by the back door or by our shed in the back. Then she'd leave a note in the mailbox that there was a package out back. I finally told her she could just leave it in the front door since I'm usually home anyway, I just don't hear the doorbell. If it's small, she leaves it in the mail box usually. I've never had to pick up anything at the post office though.

If USPS will need a signature (you should've known if they will need one,) you do not need your ID. Just make sure you're home. However, your children would be able to sign, since they live at your address. Just make sure they have the same last name. Usually, USPS does not need a signature. If that's the case, they will simply drop it at your door.
